My Story
Hi, thanks for taking the time to get to know me. I think that whilst my story is unique, it is one that many can relate to, in one way or another.
My story starts in New Zealand, where I was born and raised as a relatively normal child just with mild allergies and eczema however things really changed for me when I moved to Japan at the age of ten. The transition for me was rough, to say the least, being the only child in the entire school that spoke English and having no one I could talk to, I ended up with a lot of stress. And as you probably know, stress + eczema = flare ups. So not only was I trying to fit in but I was also suffering physically with my skin.
Hundreds of doctor visits later and years of prescription topical steroids, rounds of antibiotics, followed by major depression in my teens resulted in a body that I was fighting against, skin I was uncomfortable in, binge eating, lethargy and a mind that had forgotten peace.
At 17 I realised I had TSA (Topical Steroid Addiction) and knew I needed to stop. I was so ready to be free but I was overwhelmed. I ended up with a false start because the deterioration was so severe, I needed to buy myself some time to prepare. And so I did, and then I spent the next 6 months in my parents home doing nothing but bathing, itching and sleeping (spending more than 12 hours a day in the tub).
Since then I’ve been learning what it means to heal, how to be in tune with my own body, and what health really looks like. It hasn’t been easy, but it has been worth it and I am determined to help others find ease in their journey to health. I’ve since become a certified health coach, as well as a mum to three and needless to say I have healed and transformed over and over and over that I’ve gotten pretty good at it. Not only have I transformed my health, but I’ve moved through phases of feeling and looking downright ugly, to finding my beauty again, finding my confidence, my worth and inner radiance.
I’ve learnt that healing isn’t an action as much as it is a skill of receiving, and that with the right mindset, anything is possible.
And now I’m here to share what I’ve learnt, inspire others and help where help is needed. I would love to guide others through this incredible journey of healing, both physical and internal, for it has changed my life and I know how profound it can be for others too.
If this resonates with you I deeply look forward to connecting with you, and I hope to hear from you soon.
Much love and healing,
Emi
